And this is you, today, 2 years old, showing us how to form the number with your fingers, saying the word two (your favorite, and currently the only number you are saying). You are a joy, giving out hugs and kisses, greeting us daily like we've been gone for a month, sitting with us to hear story after story, singing and dancing to all types of music. You challenge us with your monkey-like antics, like getting into every drawer, opening doors to see what is on the other side, coloring in books that are not meant for coloring, obsessing over Ben's Legos- taking them apart or running down the hall with them. Not a week goes by that one of us doesn't say "Do you remember what our lives were like before Emma?"
Not a day goes by that you don't say a new word, or demonstrate a new skill, or melt our hearts with one of your big cheesy grins, the same cheesy grin you give us when you know we are about to tell you to stop doing something that you probably shouldn't be doing.
The Happy Birthday song is your new favorite, you love to hear it sung to you and you smile and your chin goes to your chest and you dance and dance with happiness. So I hope you are ready to hear it about a hundred times today.
Happy Birthday little blue eyes. We love you.
