Week In The Life 2012, Day Three

Ah, day three, the day of the imperfect photos, out of focus, too dark, too bright, the flash going off, no one in the frame.

Week In The Life 2012, Day Two

Week In The Life 2012, Day One

The last time I participated in Ali Edwards Week In The Life project was back in 2010- that completed album remains one of my favorites of all time.  How much would you give to know what day to day life was like when you were a child, what your family routines were, what you ate, how much things cost, the timing of your day, what your surroundings looked like, what you wore?  This album is really as much work as you want it to be.  My 2010 album is a 12x12 filled with 100's of photos in different divided page protectors, with pieces of paper ephemera (receipts, packaging, etc.), scrapbook embellishments, and several full page scrapbook layouts.  This year I am using an 8 1/2 x 11 album with divided protectors as well as full size pages.  Things I am doing differently this year: I downloaded Ali's daily sheets so that I can keep better track of the day.  I am carrying a small camera everywhere and keeping my eyes open for all the little details. I am trying to compile a list of common items and their prices (gasoline, food, movies, etc.) I also have the whole family more involved this year- Dave and the kids have taken photos and filled out journal cards and seem to be enjoying the process. {Hawthorne tree in bloom} {the daily goodbye wave to their dad}{Ben's school drop off} {our shadows while walking into Emma's ballet class} {Monday swim lessons for Emma and Ben} {Monday is always coupon clipping day} {after dinner playtime in Ben's room}{Dave and Ben reading Harry Potter in the playhouse before bed}

Planting

Planning on spending this Earth Day planting in the garden (spent most of yesterday afternoon weeding), bring on the sunshine. 

You Are My Sunshine

I know spring is officially here but day after day of dark, rainy days has been getting me down so I decided to make a little piece of scrapbook art to brighten my mood, as well as the wall in Emma's room. Since her birth I have sung "You Are My Sunshine" to her- it was the song that soothed her when she cried and the song we now sing together nightly as part of her bedtime routine. The lyrics, that have become such an important part of our everyday life, seemed like the perfect choice to make into a wall hanging.  To make this project I cut 7 one-inch wide strips from different pieces of yellow 12x12 patterned paper as well as 1 piece of grey to use for the rays of the sun.  I cut the sun from a piece of yellow cardstock, glued it on a piece of patterned craft paper, then glued down the 8 strips at different intervals.  I used random yellow letter stickers, some chip letters painted grey, and my own handwriting to put the lyrics onto the rays of the sun.  Now all I need to do is slip it into a frame and hang it up in Emma's room.And I'm hoping the sun takes the hint and comes out a little bit more.
