As Valentine's Day draws near I decided to try making this fun felt heart wreath found here @ eighteen25
You will need a foam, heart shaped wreath (found this 12" wreath at JoAnn Fabrics for $2 after using a 50% off coupon,) a box of straight pins, and red felt. I didn't have time to pick up fabric by the yard before starting and instead bought small sheets of felt- I ended up using 18 sheets I had bought on sale 6/$1 but this would have been easier to do with a large piece of felt (I believe I would have wasted less fabric). One of the things I love about this kind of project is that it is something for me to do with my hands while watching a movie (I am not a great sit still kind of movie watcher).I cut my circles by hand using a can of beans as a template (each circle was just over 3 inches across)- at last count I ended up cutting around 165 circles to complete my 12" wreath:
Each circle needs to be folded in half:
Then folded in half again:
Push a straight pin through the bottom of your folded circle to hold folds together and push into foam wreath:
As you begin to cluster the felt "roses" together you can see your final project taking form:
Had to take a lunch break, here it is about 2/3 of the way through:
This really looks even more lush and lovely in person and now I have a few other projects I would love to try using this technique.
Love this so much, felt makes me so happy!! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Jackie, I have been a felt "collector" for far too long, time to start using it up- I bought a fun book this Christmas, "Fa La La Felt"- not only does it have some great holiday projects there are plenty to use everyday too!

This is Fabulous!! Thanks for including how many circles you cut out - now I just need to find the time to actually do it ;)
How did you make the hanger part? It looks like more of the folded circles - attached to?

I counted them just for you my friend :) I used some American Crafts Dear Lizzy rose ribbon- I tied it right around the top of the wreath (you are right though, it does look like those folded circles.)
