Back in February Jen Jockisch posted a Letter Monogram project on the American Crafts blog (in her project she made a large letter A on card stock, covered it with buttons and brads, then framed it). After seeing it I knew I wanted to try one (especially since I have an overabundance of buttons, flowers, brads and beads in my craft stash). For my Easter Egg project I used an 8x10 flat canvas stretched onto cardboard, traced a large paper egg, and started punching holes. After filling in most of the egg with brads I then started layering bits and pieces in the bare spots. When I was done I added the velvet letters and punched a hole in the top to hang it with ribbon. This was a fun project, I love that it reminds me of the jewelry trees my neighbor made on green velvet when I was a child. And because I only made a small dent in my embellishment collection I know I'm going to have to try it again for another holiday.
