Summer is passing by in a flash. Every single time I thought about posting what was going on around here suddenly there was laundry to do, plants to water or fertilize or move or prune, water to be swum in, stars to be gazed at, weekly library visits, sand to be swept up, tears to be dried, books to be read, jokes to be told, stories to share, trips to take, tents to set up, driving to and waiting at swimming lessons-swim team-hip-hop classes, food to make and eat and enjoy, drinks to be poured and sipped and really enjoyed, friends to see, family to see, movies to see, band-aids to apply, bug bites to treat, boughts of boredom to bust, this past week's heat wave, the list goes on and on. So here is a little taste (pun-intended because I really can't believe how many food photos made it on here) of what we've been up to this summer:
First bruschetta on homemade bread, tomatoes from one of the 21 plants I grew this year. Hanging out in Grandma and Papa's backyard.
Playing around at the Scandanavian festival in Junction City.
A lot of cones from local favorite Red Wagon Creamery.
Having friends come over to release Painted Lady butterflies in our backyard.
Birthday crostata for my mom made with blueberries and marionberries from her yard.
As well as a second crostata made from Gravenstein apples from our backyard.
Using blueberries from our yard to make waffles. Proud of his new Lego-building buddy.
Green beans/ summer squash with chevre and sliced tomatoes with basil and feta from the garden.
Epic Lego building sessions where we can't use the dining room table for days (which didn't matter since we have eaten dinner outside almost every night this summer- hooray!
Toasting summer with friends (Blackberry-ginger highballs) while enjoying the great outdoors.
Sunsets in our own backyard.
Sunset at the Cuthbert while the Eugene Symphony played.
$1 car washes.
S'mores.
The Oregon Coast.
Museum visits.
Dragonflies that hung out long enough for me to grab my camera.
Lots of grilling.
More epic Lego building.
Camping (and getting a family photo- yeah!)
A lot of naps.
Children's theater productions in the park
Movie making camp at Maude Kearn's Art Center for Ben.
A special "Big Dipper" necklace purchased for myself (love you Grandpa Jones.)
Lots of time to stop and smell the flowers and listen to the bees buzz.
And so many more moments in-between. This is our summer.
This is what it is all about, I could fall right into your summer! The food images have me ready to jump in the car and head on down!!!
